Teddy Kradzinski Foundation Partners with Unity Sober Living
Philadelphia-area nonprofit provides its first sober-living housing scholarship
The Teddy Kradzinski Foundation, a Philadelphia-area nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals at different points of their sobriety journeys, has begun providing scholarships to those living in recovery at Unity Sober Living, a leading sober-living home organization in Pottstown, Pa. The Foundation awarded its first scholarship to a Unity Sober Living resident in September, ensuring the recipient could remain housed with Unity and find gainful employment.
The first such partnership for the Teddy Kradzinski Foundation, this agreement enables the Foundation to provide immediate financial assistance to those seeking housing with Unity Sober Living, many of whom are early in recovery, forging new lives in sobriety.
"The Teddy Kradzinski Foundation believes strongly in the power of community and fellowship in supporting individuals with substance use disorder," said Sharon Donnelly, Board President of the Teddy Kradzinski Foundation. "Our partnership with Unity Sober Living is hopefully the first of many like it, as we work to meet individuals where they are on their recovery journeys and grow the community that was so important to our namesake, Teddy Kradzinski."
Each scholarship affords rent payments at a Unity Sober Living home for a three-week period, during which the recipient, Unity housing personnel, and Teddy Kradzinski Foundation Board members will maintain open communication with progress updates. Unity Sober Living operates with a strong focus on developing life skills and empowering its residents in the community through employment and financial literacy programs.
“We are proud to add the Teddy Kradzinski Foundation as one of our trusted partners who allow us to impact more lives in the community each day,” said Darnell Hinton, Chief Executive Officer at Unity Sober Living. “Many of the men and women who have gone on to lead fulfilling lives after residing with Unity Sober Living did so with the support of partner organizations like these.”
Scholarship applicants must be accepted by Unity Sober Living and reside there according to all house rules for two weeks before submitting an application with the Teddy Kradzinski Foundation.
